根据以下内容,回答题。

Passage Three

Alaska, which was called Russian America before it was sold to U. S. A. ,joined the union as the forty-ninth state in 1959.

Alaska is now the largest of all the 50 states of the U. S..

It was in 1867 that President A. Johnson"s Secretary of State(国务卿) ,Seward bought Alaska from the Russians at a cost of 7.2 million. The buying of the huge northern land mass seemed at first something foolishly done. Not only was Alaska difficult to reach, but it was also hard to bye in, and it appeared to have no importance in time of war. Besides, there are volcanoes there as Alaska hes on the Pacific" ring of fire". In Alaska large treeless areas are covered with snow all the year. For these reasons the buying of Alaska was called "Seward"s Fooly" at that time.

However, in 1896 gold was found in Alaska, and people poured tin to the land quickly. Since then other important natural resources were discovered, including oil. Soon people changed their thinking about "Seward"s Fooly". But most people visit Alaska in order to see the endless beauty of nature that the northern land discloses to them. For instance, there are a- bout 11,000 islands in Alaska. And in a certain area of Alaska the sun does not set for 82 days

every year.

Alaska belonged to__________before 1867. 查看材料

根据以下内容回答题:

Every couDle who goes to the altar(圣坛)believes that they will make that trip onlyonce in their lives. They want the day to be perfect, and they are asking for much more than good weather.Thev want the most beautiful clothes, the freshest flowers. Moreover, her family who will foot the bill is not in any mood,to economize. A quick look at any bride magazine will reveal that plenty of attractive goods and services compete for a share of the wedding budget.Besides the obvious choices of rings, dresses, flowers, and photographs, there are the less apparent expenses:a lavish(奢侈的)cake,a rehearsal dinner,a reception, music fbr both the ceremony and the reception, tips, and even nadkins and matchbooks printed with the couple’s names and the wedding date. As the arrangements are generally complicated, there are plenty of services that can be hired to helD with the planning and execution of the every aspect of the wedding:planning the photographs, selecting the wedding rings, choosing the flowers, picking the honeymoon spot, and so on.One magazine lists over 350 such pamphlets published,of course,by businesses who have something to offer.Considering that weddings do more than l 2 billion dollars worth of business annually in the US alone, such activity isn’t surprising. What is surprising is that not one company dominates the industry. It seems that when people plan for a day as special to them as a weddin9,they resist standardization. They turn instead to the small local suppliers known to them or to their friends.Family members or friends often servee as Dhotographers, caterers and musicians.This.not only helps bring the wedding cost down, but makes it more personal. What about the couple that doesn’t want to take in this billion-dollar industry? They can go to eity hall and get married for less than the price of a hamburger.

What does the expression“this billion.dollar industry”refer to?

A.The budgets of weddings.

B.The business ofweddings.

C.The planning and execution of weddings

D.The high wedding expenses.

根据以下内容回答题:

Hostility is the urge to harm another person or oneself in the expression of anger.Anger is an anxiety defense reaction to anything perceived as a physical or emotional threat to sectirity, status,or self-image.Because the need to feel worthy and respected is natural to human beings, and because life is filled with chaHenges, every person feels angry sometimes. But the expression of anger depends on an individual’S psychological make up,and can range from mild irritation to uncontrolled great anger. Internal psychological factors are the sources of anger;environment"al factors bring these out by stimulating vulnerable areas conditioned by the peculiar emotional interpersonal relation-ships of individual childhood. If a baby receives hostility instead of the love and affection he or she craves, the baby defends himself or herself with anger:When his or her shows of anger constantly move others to more anger,he or she learns to repress his or her feelings.Repress-ing anger hides it and its causes from conscious awareness, and makes its expression unpredict-able,less easy to control, and more impulsive.Impulsive expressions of anger,therefore,indi-cate suppression of deep feelings.Explosive“letting off steam”is a way of convincing oneself and others of the seriousness of provocation and the power of anger. It also relieves the pressures of underlying anxiety to a more tolerable level. The strong energy of anger can be used in coristructive rather than destructive ways.It is healthy to release anger through non—injurious physical activity and the overcoming of frustration in achieving personal goals.By examining his or her feelings and reactions,a person can team to free himself or herself from the negative energy of anger.

It can be inferred from the passage that hostility in.the expression of anger is__________ .

A.respectable

B.imaginable

C.dependable

D.unavoidable
